You never, ever know what you’ll find.
I was out early Thursday morning last week, hunting for a feature for the paper. I saw two women sitting on a swing in front of their house, and stopped to snap a few pictures of them. Well, once I was done we got to talking, and it turned out that one of the women, Margaret Newton, was expected to meet her grandson for the first time that weekend.

Her grandson, Steve, is 36. When Margaret’s son was stationed in the Philippines about 40 years ago, he met a woman, fell in love, and had two kids. Well, once his time in the service was up, he was forced to leave them behind. After being out of contact for all these years, Steve, who had been told his father died in Vietnam, had no idea his father was still alive until a week ago, when his wife started digging to find his father’s side of the family. I wasn’t able to take pictures of the actual reunion (it’s a long story), but I was there the day after.

feature fun
It has been awhile since I updated, and most of what has kept me busy is feature hunting.

It even included this man with a 12-year-old Hardee’s Bacon Egg & Cheese biscuit.
