life through a viewfinder

in with the new, but what with the old?

I took this picture last year, and while I liked the body language, never thought much of it because the picture was too dark. But when digging through my old photos this year, I decided to try my hand at toning it… And I like it.

I love this man’s expression. To me he looks too centered and the man to his right is very large and draws away from your subject, i would crop some of him out. Thats just me though

I disagree. Sometimes centering your subject is actually a good thing. The rule of thirds is not a strict rule. In this photo, the light catches him just right, and you need to see that he is turned to look at that other man. If it were cropped in, you would lose not only that man’s shoulder (and it’d look awkward), but you’d have to crop up, and you’d lose the bottles.

    Thanks, though!
