Okay, so I would upload pictures… if wordpress wasn’t hateful.

finding where you belong

Even when I’m not good about keeping up with my own blog, I keep up with reading everyone else’s. Topics as of late have generally been concerned with next year… what everyone’s going to do, who’s going to be what editor, who’s being offered this internship or that internship, who’s quitting, who’s just taking a much-needed break.

And in congratulating all of my friends on jobs well done, I’ve come to realize that I have no idea where I fit into next year’s plan. The truth is, I have no idea where I stand. I feel like a floater, and I feel like I’m maybe the only one. I know that taking pictures is what I want to do with my life. I know that it’s important that I continue along down that path. I’m working on building a Web site better than just a stream of portfolio pictures, and I want to really get my hands dirty with studio photography, portraits and wedding shoots, and thanks to Christina, a lot of that has really been coming together for me.

But shooting scripted pictures isn’t all that I want to do. I want to work for a newspaper. I know my internship at the Messenger-Inquirer this summer will teach me a lot, and believe me, I could not be more thrilled about going, but where do I go from there? I’m graduating a year from next month, and I really don’t know what to do. I need to get a job, I need to take pictures. Sometimes it seems like I don’t know if I’ll ever be good enough to connect the two.

I guess I’ll just have to see where life takes me.
