shootin’ pool
It was raining when I got to work today, so when I was sent out on a feature hunt, I was less than thrilled. Rain means everyone in Owensboro goes inside and shuts the door, and it often feels impossible to find something good. After about a half an hour of driving around in the rain with no luck, I decided to cash in my idea of shooting senior citizens playing pool at the senior center. While this may not have produced the most visually interesting pictures, the stories you hear while you’re with these guys more than make up for the lack of cool, flashing lights and bar background.
Working on toning
This morning I had a little extra time while I was waiting for the triathlon to finish, so I found a few people and shot some feature pictures. When I got back, I figured it would be fun to try some different tools and things on photoshop, especially since I want to start doing more portrait and studio work to go on top of photojournalism.
jerry ellis
Yesterday I met a man outside of my apartment who walks his cat on a leash. Today I found him again, and shot pictures of him for the newspaper.
climb time
On Monday, Ryan rode with me back to Owensboro from Lexington, and yesterday, Tyree drove up to visit me, as well. Just before Tyree got in to town, I snapped pictures of these little boys playing in a tree across the street from my apartment. The picture below is what ran in the paper, though the picture at the top of the post is my personal favorite.
rainy days
My memorial day was spent finding a sports rain feature to make up for the afternoon of canceled baseball tournaments.
